Living in a Snowglobe

Welcome to the continuing adventures of life in the Seattle area with multiple days of snowfall.

Well, okay, maybe not continuing. But the snow certainly is.

The National Weather Service predicted a wind storm with gusts up to 70 mph for yesterday through today, the worst being overnight. Not wanting to try to sleep (or not) through another high-speed windstorm, we packed up the kids and the dog and headed to downtown Seattle.

#2 had Nutcracker performances last night and today, so we thought it made sense to be nearby. We got a 2-bedroom suite at a Residence Inn, and settled in. The snow started falling steadily about 5:00pm, and didn't stop until sometime overnight. Certainly when daring husband took #2 to the performance, and returned to do pickup afterwards, there was plenty on the streets.

This morning we packed up and headed home, where we found out that we had lost power for eight hours at our house. We missed our fully automatic generator that powers everything turning on. rats

About an hour after arriving home, it started snowing, and, with the breeze that popped up occasionally, it looked like we were in the center of a snowglobe.

The snow is still falling tonight, although more like those snowglobes with the glitter in them, but the snow is supposed to continue tomorrow. We will just hunker down and wait for it to stop so we can maybe get out and get some milk and bread.

Good thing we have pasta!
